Effective slip length for transverse shear flow over partially invaded grooves

چکیده

We consider transverse shear flow over a $2L$ -periodic array of air-filled grooves, which are separated by solid slats. address the scenario where liquid partially invades grooves. Following Crowdy's solution longitudinal problem ( J. Fluid Mech. vol. 925, 2021, R2), we focus upon simplified geometry infinitely narrow For flat menisci, ratio $\lambda$ slip length to $L$ depends single geometric parameter, namely $H$ invasion depth . analyse singular limit $H\ll 1$ using matched asymptotic expansions, with an outer region on scale period and inner slat. In region, employ complex-variable formulation Stokes flows, obtaining complex velocity as divergent series. This formal representation is transformed admissible closed-form expression. equivalent that past finite line segment. Asymptotic matching yields $\lambda = [\ln (2/{\rm \pi} H)-1]/{\rm \pi}$

Effective slip-length tensor for a flow over weakly slipping stripes.

We discuss the flow past a flat heterogeneous solid surface decorated by slipping stripes. The spatially varying slip length, b(y), is assumed to be small compared to the scale of the heterogeneities, L, but finite. For such weakly slipping surfaces, earlier analyses have predicted that the effective slip length is simply given by the surface-averaged slip length, which implies that the effecti...

Effective slip over partially filled microcavities and its possible failure

Microscale roughness on an otherwise smooth hydrophobic surface can significantly reduce the resistance to an external liquid flow. We study static drag reduction over a lubricantinfused surface by looking at an array of two-dimensional transverse grooves partially filled with a second immiscible fluid. Numerical simulations at separate length scales are used to probe the static drag reduction ...

The effective slip length and vortex formation in laminar flow over a rough surface

The flow of viscous incompressible fluid over a periodically corrugated surface is investigated numerically by solving the Navier–Stokes equation with the local slip and no-slip boundary conditions. We consider the effective slip length which is defined with respect to the level of the mean height of the surface roughness. With increasing corrugation amplitude the effective no-slip boundary pla...

Effective slip law for general viscous flows over oscillating surface

We consider the non-stationary three dimensional viscous flow in a bounded domain, with the lateral surface containing microscopic surface irregularities. Under the assumption of a smooth flow in the domain without roughness, we prove that there is a smooth solution to a problem with the rough boundary. In the papers by Jäger and Mikelić the friction law was obtained as a perturbation of the Po...

Ideal-gas DPD fluid Tunable-slip wall Effective Slippage on Superhydrophobic Trapezoidal Grooves

The design and fabrication of textured surfaces has received much attention during the past decade. In case of a hydrophobic texture a modified surface profile can lead to a very large contact angle, which induces exceptional wetting properties. A remarkable mobility of liquids on such SH surfaces is observed in the Cassie state, where the textures are filled with gas, which renders them “self-...
